Appoquinimink's Technology Initiative: One-to-One Access in Middle and High School
In 2014, we began providing iPads to every grade 6 student. This year, every middle school student will have an iPad, and every 9th and 10th Grader will be provided with a Chromebook, and will utilize the technology as part of their daily educational experience. **We will complete distribution of Chromebooks throughout high school in the 2018-19 school year.**
The electronic devices promote greater student engagement and ownership of their learning. It offers a range of functionalities (camera, video camera, word processing, document viewing, internet connection) and an incentive for learning scientific skills.
Students will have full access to the device during the day – however, parents are encouraged to attend an information session and must sign the necessary approvals to participate in a district-wide insurance program – before your student will be approved to bring the device home.
